Allumer

3D game
@ Global Game Jam 2019

Introduction

Allumer is an adventure game; we are going to play as a shining star which tries to find other lost, confused, dimmed stars and light them up! Those stars represent the people surrounding you; you might spend time on them, some of them would be warmed by you and become a part of your light; some of the stars just do not light up no matter how hard you tried; some even hurt you when you tried to approach them. But we still look around to find other stars which may have a strong bond with you. During this journey, sometimes you would feel lonely because there is no one there, falling into the deep dark night, but finally, you and those stars would light up your universe, which is your home.

Objective

The theme of this game is "home". We realised that home is not just meaning a place or a location, while the most important thing is in that place who is in there. Home should be a place with people who will make you feel warm and comfortable. However, we may have family members who are indifferent to you or hurt you. Sometimes, although you are not related by blood with them, you feel relieved when you are with them, and that is the place where your home is.

Features

In this game, the player is able to move from any angels, which simulates the situation of being a star in the universe. The player can touch other stars which haven't been lighted up and observe their response. There are 3 types of stars including normal, unlighted and bomb. Only those are normal can be lighted up and give energy to the players while the unlighted will only keep sparkling and the bomb will explode and make the player losing energy. The player will also keep losing energy according to the time. If enough stars are light up, the player will win the game.

Responsibility

I was the project manager of the team. I was responsible for refining the idea, designing the game system, programming and music composing.
