Handy

Mobile Application (concept)

Introduction

“Handy” is a mobile application which user could use their smartphone to check whether their belongings are missing or not. If the user’s belongings are far from the user, the transmitter will ring as to alert the user. The application will also pop up a message telling the user which item is missing.

Objective

Different from other similar application, I focus on the function of “prevent missing” instead of “finding”. I found that the similar products in the market mainly help people to find their belongings after they miss them. There is no guaranty that the user can 100% found his or her belongings. Therefore, I design this new application which mainly helps the user avoid missing.

Also, during the research state, I found that those applications with similar function are not so user-friendly. There is not enough freedom for the user to customize their own tag and it may be hard to check which belonging is he or her missing in a short time. Therefore, I focus on the homepage during the design process and set up some functions so that the user could customize the tag for their own use.

Features

1. Customized tag

The user can customize their own tag by setting the name and the icon shows on the homepage. This function helps the user can quickly notice which belonging is going to be missing by only watching the homepage of the application.

2. Error prevention
The user can set the allowable range and the effective
time for the tag. This help user to applied the tag in different situations. For example, the user would like to apply the tag on his wallet and umbrella. The user could set the allowable range for the wallet be 1 meter but set 5 meters for the umbrella. This prevents error alert while the user applying the tag on different belongings.
